This year in May, the newly launched Solos glasses have invaded the market with its properties smarter than your smartphone and your bicycle computer. This smart glasses will bring your ride to the next level. Whether you are cycling to work, riding on weekends or a professional triathlete, Solos is the perfect glasses for you. These glasses put everything you need right in front of you, such as your speed, distance and duration, heart rate, power and cadence, without blocking your range of view. It’s like it’s there, but it’s not. Unlike the 2013-launched Recon Jet glasses, which people has been complaining that the screen is blocking their vision.
The Solos glasses is synced with the companion Solos Android/iOS app on your smartphone over Bluetooth, which in turns sync the eyewear, giving the user real-time information with any third party performance monitoring devices that are connected to the phone through ANT+. The screen is located at the right hand side of the lenses, where the display arm is adjustable to enable you a better viewing angle.
Creating a cycling sunglasses with all the features a cyclist needs certainly seems like a great idea, but ideas don’t really work that easily. But it seems Solos made it, making it the world’s smallest optical module (super tiny screen) to make sure that nothing gets in the way of your vision. The glasses contain sensors that can sense your heart rate, power and cadence. It’s made of lightweight polycarbonate, and has an anti-slip temple and nose pads. The Solos also has immersive audio speakers right at the sides which can adjust its volume to ambient noise. It can run for six hours straight when the lithium cell battery is fully charged.
Famous USA cycling Olympians have used and complemented the smart glasses.
“It’s cool to have a dual purpose glasses and power meter all at once” – Ruth Winder, US Olympic Team Member 2016
“Without the access to this data and this technology we would not be where we are today. So a big thank you to Solos for supporting Team USA on our way to Rio” – Kelly Catlin, 2016 World Champion, US Olympic Team Member 2016.
